Sheriff’s Office Detectives Make Arrest in Violent Burglary, Second Suspect Still Outstanding

Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Detectives arrested a man for a violent burglary and battery that occurred on Thursday, December 22, 2011 in the 13000 block of Chamy Drive in South Reno.

At approximately 10:45 AM, Washoe County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a report of an injured person and physical disturbance that occurred in the 13000 block of Chamy Drive. Upon arrival, deputies found a 49 year male suffering from head injuries. The victim reported that two male subjects entered his residence and severely battered him. The subjects were not known to the victim. The entire incident was witnessed by a 10 year old child. The child was neither involved nor harmed. The victim was transported to a local hospital for his injuries, which were not life threatening and was later released.

Neighbors provided deputies with a possible suspect vehicle description that was observed fleeing the area prior to the Sheriff’s Office arrival. Based on information gathered from neighbors and the victim, Washoe County Detectives located the suspect vehicle in the 800 block of Ralston Drive in Reno. Further investigation resulted in the arrest of Jason Blakely for burglary and battery with substantial bodily harm. Evidence from the burglary was also located and collected. Blakely was booked into the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Detention Facility, where he was held on $10,000 bail.

Detectives are seeking any additional information regarding this incident. The identity and whereabouts of the second male suspect is still under investigation. Detectives want the public to know that this incident is being investigated as an isolated crime, where the victim was targeted by the suspect.
