Sheriff’s elite Detention Response Team to treat local seniors to Holiday Bingo this Saturday

About 20 members of the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office elite Detention Response Team will treat residents at the Life Care Center of Reno to Bingo and prizes at 2:00 p.m. this Saturday, December 3, 2011.

This is the fourth year in a row that Detention Response Team members have donated their time to share a highly anticipated afternoon of Bingo and good cheer with the seniors at Life Care.

Detention Response Team members also donated funds to purchase prizes and gifts for the seniors ranging from hats, mittens and scarves to crossword puzzles and books.

“Holiday Bingo with the DRT has become one of our favorite events of the year because it adds so much to the holidays our residents,” Life Care Center’s Activities Director Adriene Angelini said. “Some have no family to share the season with, others just enjoy having some fun with local law enforcement officers. For all, it is a special holiday treat.”

The Sheriff’s Detention Response Team is specially trained to effectively deal with emergency situations within the county’s Detention Facility, including violent inmates, riot control, hostage situations, high security court cases and transport of high security inmates. Since its inception, the Detention Response Team has maintained a high standard of honor, commitment and dedication making this one of the nation’s most elite teams dedicated to detention security and emergency response.
