SENATOR GAINES AND ASSEMBLYWOMAN GAINES TEAM UP FOR “OPERATION GOBBLE”

SACRAMENTO, CA – Senator Ted Gaines (R-Roseville), Assemblywoman Beth Gaines (R-Roseville) and California American Water have teamed up this Thanksgiving to provide more than 900 turkeys to local non-profits as part of the 20th annual “Operation Gobble” program.

“I’m so proud to be associated with this annual event that fills such an important need within our community,” said Senator Gaines. “By providing local non-profit partners with hundreds of Thanksgiving turkeys, we’re helping ensure that Sacramento area families can enjoy a traditional holiday meal together.”

The turkeys were provided at below cost by Save Mart Supermarkets and will benefit numerous non-profit organizations throughout the Sacramento area, including: Twin Lakes and Orangevale Food Banks, Placer and El Dorado Food Banks, and the Salvation Army of Roseville and Auburn.

“Operation Gobble is an important community partnership that helps bring together a local business with some of the most supportive non-profits in my district,” said Assemblywoman Beth Gaines. “Through this innovative partnership, we are going to deliver a Thanksgiving meal to thousands in the region who may have otherwise gone without.”

“Operation Gobble” is a joint charitable venture between California water companies and local state legislators and is set to deliver an estimated 30,000 turkeys to under-privileged families throughout the state this Thanksgiving holiday. First begun in 1990, the unique program pairs the local knowledge of state legislators with the resources of the private sector to benefit those in need.

During the program, participating investor-owned water companies like California American Water provide turkeys and transportation in partnership with local elected officials who offer local expertise in directing the donations to community food banks, churches and other non-profit organizations.

“California American Water has more than 80 employees who live and work here in Sacramento,” said California American Water Northern Division General Manager Andy Soule. “This program is an opportunity for us to give back to our customers, our neighbors and our families.”

Senator Ted Gaines represents the 1st Senate District, which includes all or parts of Alpine, Amador, Calaveras, El Dorado, Lassen, Modoc, Mono, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Sacramento and Sierra counties.

Beth Gaines, R-Roseville, represents the 4th Assembly District, which includes portions of Placer, El Dorado, Sacramento and Alpine counties.
