Caughlin Fire Now Approaching 2,000 Acres

Reno, NV…From Inciweb…Initial damage assessments are completed. Evacuations remain in effect. Roads remain closed in neighborhoods impacted by the fire. Gas and power are being restored to residences. Fire progression has stopped on all sides of the fire.

Traffic control and security in the evacuated areas are being actively managed by local law enforcement and Nevada National Guard.

Fire Behavior

Today (11/19) most of the fire behavior are small spot fires and islands of brush that have not completely burned. Several buildings have also been smoldering and will be extinguished by crews today. (11/18) Fire was running and spotting, pushed by winds gusting to greater than 60 mph.
Significant Events

Today (11/19) residents will most likely be allowed to re-enter the communities evacuated yesterday. Law enforcement will be allowing residents in with proof of a home address. Law enforcement will continue to monitor and patrol the areas throughout the weekend. 10,000 residents evacuated;9,000 residences affected by power outages; 400 structures, 50 commercial properties, and 100 outbuildings threatened; and, evacuations in effect.
