Update

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office has successfully completed their share of the “Joining Forces” DUI Enforcement Campaign and deputies who were assigned to this campaign initiated 266 traffic stops and arrested 9 drivers for DUI.

Additionally, of the 266 traffic stops, 6 drug related arrests, 3 fugitives from justice arrests, 94 drivers cited for speeding and 23 drivers license associated violations. Registration, equipment, other moving, seat belt and no insurance violations totaled 118. All other miscellaneous citations and warnings totaled 125.

Although a driver may be stopped for one violation, during the deputy’s investigation, several other violations could be discovered. One driver may perhaps be issued a citation for numerous violations.

Even though the “Joining Forces” DUI Enforcement Campaign time period has ended, law enforcement personnel nationwide will continue patrolling roadways and neighborhoods to ensure public safety and security.

“Joining Forces” DUI Enforcement Campaign – Press Release from October 24, 2011

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office in collaboration with the Nevada Highway Patrol, and the Reno and Sparks Police Departments will be “Joining Forces” from Tuesday, October 25th – Monday, November 7th. The emphasis is to contact impaired drivers who are under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. The goal of this campaign is to help make the upcoming Nevada Day holiday and Halloween as safe as possible for all motorists and pedestrians on Nevada’s roadways. “Joining Forces” DUI Enforcement Campaigns blends high visibility saturation patrol enforcement and promote safety awareness.

Additional enforcement personnel will be working through grant funding received from the Nevada Department of Public Safety – Office of Traffic Safety and the “Joining Forces” Program.

Law Enforcement Officials urge everyone aged 21 and over to constantly use good judgment and select a designated driver or alternate means of transportation when intoxicants are consumed. The “Joining Forces” Program allows our local agencies to elevate enforcement efforts to continue battling impaired driving across Washoe County. For the safety and security of the public; Deputies, Officers and Troopers will be “Joining Forces” to crack down on impaired drivers!
