County Clerk Amy Harvey expects this Veteran’s Day, Friday, 11-11-11 to be one of the busiest days of the year for Marriage License sales. Not only is 11-11-11 a numerically lucky day, it is also a Federal holiday and the kick off to a three day weekend.

It is not unusual for couples to choose tri-numeral dates like 11-11-11 as their wedding date. The Washoe Clerk’s Office saw a significant jump in the purchase of marriage licenses on Saturday July 7, 2007 (7-7-07) when 219 licenses were issued compared to an average Saturday where 50-60 marriage licenses are normally issued and again on Sunday 10-10-10 with 77 licenses issued compared to an average 2010 Sunday of 20 licenses issued.

The Washoe County Marriage License Bureau is located at 75 Court Street in Reno, and will be open from 8:00am until Midnight for the entire three-day weekend. Couples can pre-fill their Marriage License Applications on line to expedite their transaction by visiting the Washoe County Clerk’s office website at http://www.washoecounty.us/clerks/marriage_prefill.php . After completing the application online, the couple will be issued a reference number, which they should bring to the Marriage License Bureau in addition to proper identification such as a driver’s license or passport.
