The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating several vehicle and residential burglary reports from a residential neighborhood near Shaw Middle School and Spanish Springs High School.
At approximately 3:18am, the Sheriff’s Office received a report of two suspicious males approximately 20 years old who were seen looking into vehicles with flashlights. The two males were not known to the reporting party. The two males were last seen wearing black colored coats. Upon arrival, Deputies made contact with the reporting party who advised the males ran through a large ditch where they dropped a box of tools.
The Sheriff’s Office utilized their K-9 (Canine) Units, the RAVEN (Regional Aviation Enforcement Unit) helicopter, and assistance from the Tribal Police Department and the Washoe County School District Police Department. As of 7:28am, the two males are still outstanding. A few stolen items have been recovered and subsequently returned to rightful owners.
The Sheriff’s Office urges residents in this area to check their vehicles, outdoor sheds, garages, and residences for any signs of unlawful entry or missing valuables. Also, anyone with information on these two males is encouraged to call the patrol division at 328-3350 or Secret Witness at 322-4900.
Remember to always check to see if all doors to your vehicles and houses are locked. Please keep all valuables out of sight. If you can see your valuables, so can a potential burglar.
