South Lake Tahoe, CA….Camp Richardson Historic Resort & Marina, Lake Tahoe’s favorite family resort, is gearing down for an anticipated season of fall colors, crisp mountain air, special events, activities, dining with a view and lakefront lodging value.
Located on Tahoe’s south shore, Camp Richardson is an outdoor enthusiast’s mecca. The fall season offers warm days and sweater-wearing nights that allow guests to take in hiking, biking, live music and beach time without the larger summer crowds.
Oktoberfest and Kokanee Festivals
The resort kicks-off the fall season with the Kokanee Salmon Festival, October 1-2, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. where visitors can view the colorful Kokanee swimming up Taylor Creek near the resort. The Kokanee Salmon Run includes a Kids Fun Run, 5k, 10k and half marathon along the trails near Fallen Leaf Lake where Aspens are changing color reflected in glass-like water. A post-run tradition includes devouring a bratwurst and beer at the annual Oktoberfest with authentic food, live music, a Kid’s Carnival, and the famous Beer and Wine Garden.
Dining
Fall at Camp Richardson also means incredible lakefront views over dinner. The Beacon Bar & Grill, South Shore’s favorite lakefront restaurant, has an eclectic menu of seafood, chicken, pasta, steaks, salads, soup and clam chowder, appetizers, sandwiches and burgers. Home to the Beacon’s famous “Rum Runner,” the restaurant is open year-round. The Beacon Bar & Grill is opened from 10:30 a.m. to 8:30 on weekends, and 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. weekdays.
Camp Richardson’s sister restaurant, the Fresh Ketch is a lakefront dining favorite at the Tahoe Keys Marina. It’s recognized for its seafood, happy hours, spectacular sunset views and mellow entertainment with live blues and jazz. The restaurant has been voted “Tahoe’s Best Seafood,” annually attracting the attention of foodies including the crew Rachel Ray Tasty Travels.
Both the Beacon Bar & Grill and the Fresh Ketch will participate in the annual Lake Tahoe Restaurant Week, Oct. 2-9 – a lake-wide event that offers pre-fixe menus for $20, $30 or $40 for lunch and/or dinner. Dining specials at the Beacon will feature coconut prawns, clam chowder, cherry chipotle chicken, seafood linguini, filet mignon and fresh halibut. The Fresh Ketch will offer jumbo lump crab, stuffed petrale sole, peach and sausage stuffed prime pork chop and a 14 oz grilled rib eye.
