Sheriff’s Office Issues Results from “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” Impaired Driving Enforcement Campaign

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office along with law enforcement personnel from the Reno and Sparks Police Departments, and the Nevada Highway Patrol have successfully concluded “Joining Forces” as part of the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” alcohol and drug impaired driving concentrated effort. The two-week combined effort began on August 19th and continued through Monday, September 5th.

The following activity results are solely the statistics from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies arrested 4 drivers for DUI, 15 drug related arrests, 6 various felony arrests, and 3 fugitive arrests. Deputies issued 175 speeding citations and another 256 citations for registration, equipment, movement, no insurance, driver’s license, seat belt and other miscellaneous traffic violations. Finally, Deputies issued 252 warning citations merely educating the public on the dangers of the roadway, including pedestrian and overall traffic safety.

Deputies with the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office were able to complete this impaired driving enforcement campaign with funds awarded by a grant made possible through the Department of Public Safety – Office of Traffic Safety.
