On Tuesday, August 9, 2011, at about 5:00 p.m. Deputies and Investigators of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office responded to Minden Medical Center for a report of a man with stab wounds.

During the subsequent investigation, Investigators determined that Kenneth Pestana, a 55 year old male, received multiple stab wounds during a domestic dispute with a female friend, later identified as Wendy Smith, while in his residence at 1085 Centerville Rd. in Gardnerville, Nevada. Pestana initially refused medical treatment, but was eventually taken to Renown Medical Center via Careflight for treatment of stab wounds to his arm and chest.

No arrests have been made at this time, and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Investigator Jon Storke at 782-9905.
