New Polling Locations for 65,500 Washoe County Voters: September 13 Special Election

At the end of this week, the first of 65,500 Washoe County registered voters will receive a postcard notifying them of a change in their election day polling locations for the September 13th Special Election. While their new polling location will also be listed on their sample ballot which they will receive the week of August 15th, the Washoe County Registrar’s Office is sending the additional notification to ensure voters are aware of the change. Washoe County has a total of 214,958 registered voters and all voters are encouraged to double check their polling locations before they head out to vote.

Voter Registration. Registrar Burk also reminds voters if you have moved recently or changed your name, you will need to re-register to vote. If you have moved, but haven’t re-registered with Washoe County, you will not receive a sample ballot. You can re-register by mail, in-person at the Registrar of Voters Office, located in the Washoe County Administration Complex on Ninth Street in Reno or at a Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles location by completing the Change of Address for Voters form or a New Voter’s Registration Application. The last day to register to vote for this election by mail is Saturday, August 13th (postmarked). The last day to register to vote in person is Tuesday, August 23rd. All registered voters within Washoe County are eligible to vote for one of the four candidates for the Second Congressional Seat. Governor Sandoval established Tuesday, September 13, 2011, as the date for a Special Election to fill the vacancy in the Nevada Second Congressional seat vacated by with Congressman Dean Heller’s appointment to the U.S. Senate.
