Placer County took top honors among county exhibits at the California State Fair at Cal Expo in Sacramento. The exhibit won the Gold Ribbon, Best Animation, and the Golden Bear/Best in Show Award. The 2011 exhibit is is the second year in a row that the county exhibit captured these awards.

The exhibit features Placer County, from the spectacular ski and recreation area at Lake Tahoe, to the nature, culture, history, fine food and wines available throughout the County. The exhibit also offers a look at the many activities in the County, including gold panning, camping, boating, hiking, fishing and museums. The exhibit makes note of the area’s history, including Maidu Indians, the Gold Rush and the Transcontinental Railroad.

The State Fair runs through July 31.
