The Voice (www.nbc.com/the-voice), which drew popular, primetime ratings on NBC this spring. Coached by Adam Levine, lead singer of the pop/rock band
Maroon 5, Colon won after weeks of competition that culminated in a vote by viewers as well as the panel of celebrity coaches that included Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo, Blake Shelton and Levine. The soulful pop singer received a grand prize of $100,000 as well as a contract with Universal Republic recordings.
Colon is set to begin a national tour July 27th in Los Angeles with The Voice’s top eight artists as part of the Sprint Presents “The Voice Live on Tour”.
This will be Colon’s inaugural appearance in the $600,000 celebrity golf tournament, which has a first place prize of $125,000. The 22nd annual American Century Championship airs on VERSUS Friday, July 15 (1-4 p.m. PT, live) and on NBC Saturday and Sunday, July 16 and 17(12-3 p.m. PT, live). The 54-hole competition is staged at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course.
Tournament title sponsor American Century Investments is a leading, privately-controlled investment management firm serving professionals, institutions, corporations and individuals. Through its ownership structure, more than 40% of company profits support research to help find cures for genetically-based diseases including cancer, diabetes and dementia.
For the sixth consecutive year, the official tournament charity is LIVESTRONG®. Since the tournament’s inception in 1990, more than $3 million has been raised for a variety of national and local charities.
