The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Detectives Division is currently investigating a homicide of a two year old female, which occurred in the 6600 block of Dorchester Drive in Spanish Springs on Sunday, July 3, 2011.

Washoe County Patrol Deputies were dispatched to a residence on Dorchester Drive on a report of an unresponsive child. Upon arrival, Deputies observed paramedics treating the child. The child was subsequently transported by REMSA to the Renown Regional Medical Center, where the child succumbed to undisclosed injuries. Sheriff’s Office Detectives were called out to continue the investigation.

The circumstances surrounding the death of the child are suspicious in nature and this case is being investigated as a homicide. Detectives are currently establishing the chain of events that led up to the death of the child and are currently seeking out any potential witnesses.

The Sheriff’s Office is working in conjunction with the Medical Examiner’s Office and Child Protective Services. This is an ongoing investigation and suspect information will be released as the case unfolds.
