South Lake Tahoe, Calif. –The summer evening speaker series at the Taylor Creek Visitor Center continues every Wednesday and Thursday evening through August at the beautiful Lake of the Sky Amphitheater. Next Wednesday, July 13, 2011, features Nevada Tahoe Conservation District’s Jason Brand with the program “How Clear is Lake Tahoe?” Jason will discuss Tahoe’s famous water clarity at 8:30 p.m.

Other programs in July include “Wild Things” on July 21, “Tahoe’s Historic Characters” on July 27 and “Batopia” on July 28. The Visitor Center also offers an assortment of visitor and kids programs daily as well as a Saturday night international forest film festival. Upcoming films include “Rainforest: The Secret of Life” on July 16, “Introducing the Inferno: Science and Fire & Disturbance” on July 23, and “A Working Forest: It’s Future with Fire, People & Wildlife” on July 30.

These programs are sponsored by the Forest Service and the Tahoe Heritage Foundation. The Tahoe Heritage Foundation is a non-profit organization that works with the Forest Service to conduct interpretive and environmental education programs in the Tahoe. Donations to the Tahoe Heritage Foundation are accepted.
