South Lake Tahoe, CA…The 19h annual Valhalla Renaissance Faire, Californias most acclaimed Renaissance themed event where the sights, sounds, tastes and beauty of the 16th Century comes alive for two magically themed weekends.  June 4h & 5th and June 11th & 12th, the 18th annual Valhalla Renaissance Faire, California’s most acclaimed Renaissance themed event where the sights, sounds, tastes and beauty of the 16th Century returns to South Lake Tahoe’s Camp Richardson for two magically themed weekends.

Thousands of patrons will once again descend onto Tahoe in a celebration of the adventure, romance, merriment, and magic of 16th century life in what has turned out to be one of the most beloved events of its kind in California.  This year’s theme for the will be Shakespeare’s Muse. Camp Richardson will be transformed to a delightful Elizabethan town filled with the myriad characters and vignettes resembling those of Shakespeare’s plays we so dearly love. Their stories will make their way into his plays and into our hearts. Over 900 costumed entertainers and over 100 shopkeepers and artisans will add to the ambience of the Faire. The faire will feature more than six stages of continuous entertainment, Queen Elizabeth’s court, Shakespearian plays and vignettes, expertly staged battle scenes and theatrical performances, lively crafts marketplace, storytelling for children and adults, dancing, archery tournaments and much more.

There will be merchants selling a wide array of arts and craft including one of a kind jewelry items, woodcrafts, artwork, ceramics, clothing, hats, accessories and historic weapons. And to top it all off, a hard hitting joust.  Patron’s Weekend themes – Fun for the whole family In addition to Shakespeare, we will hold additional themes, different each weekend to bring joy and fun to patrons of our shire.  Fantasy Alive! (geared towards younger audience)-  The First Weekend magical creatures and fantasies will come to life and wizards, faeries and elves will enchant the streets of the market village, spreading joy around the shire. Become a part of this enchanting celebration by participating in Fantasy Scavenger Hunts, and Fantasy Costume Contests to be judged by Shakespeare himself. Perhaps your creation will be the inspiration of his upcoming play, the Midsummer Night’s Dream.    Pirate & Barbarian Hordes Invade! (geared towards more adult audience) – Let loose the second Weekend amongst the Pirate and Barbarian hordes.

Participate in Scavenger Hunts, Costume contests and Talk Like a Pirate Competitions!  School & Family Day – Friday, June 10th our annual “School & Family Day,” will take place. The event is offered to public, private, and home-schooled students, sponsors, and their families, allows young people and families to experience first-hand the life, culture, and history of the Renaissance Period – emphasis on interactive educational presentations, entertaining stage performances, culminating in a Grand Joust will cap off the day.
