Melio Gaspari Water Play Park Opens for the Summer on June

The Melio Gaspari Water Play Park in Spanish Spring’s Lazy 5 Regional Park is one of the area’s coolest places for the little ones to cool down. The water play park is scheduled to open for the summer season on Thursday, June 9, 2011.

The water play park will be open five days a week through Sunday, August 28. Hours are 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. The water play park is closed on Monday and Tuesday.

Daily admission is $3 per person with free admission for anyone under the age of three or over 61.

Water play park features include a giant sunflower sprinkler, spilling buckets, “spitting” horses, a water tower, and other cool stuff out of the Old West.

Reservable Pavilions

The Melio Gaspari Water Play Park is a cool spot for birthday parties and other summer time special events. The park has two covered pavilions that accommodate up to 32 people each. For details and reservations, call (775) 823-6501.

Lazy 5 Regional Park is managed by the Washoe County Department of Regional Parks and Open Space and named for a ranch that previously operated in the area. The park includes a 5,000 square foot community center with an outdoor patio and barbeque area, children’s playground, group and individual picnic areas, volleyball courts, horseshoe pits, and multi-purpose fields.
