US Hwy 50 Over Echo Summit Re-Opens, Sat., May 21

May 20, 2011(Stateline, Calif./Nev.) — US Hwy 50 over Echo Summit will re-open Saturday, May 21 providing convenient access prior to Memorial Day and a summer of outdoor recreation, events and headliner entertainment in Lake Tahoe South Shore http://www.TahoeSouth.com). According to Caltrans, the exact time on Saturday is subject to weather and temperatures. Check www.Way2Tahoe.com for updates.

The highway will be open with no controls every weekend, including Memorial Day Weekend, May 28-30. The construction project to replace a rock wall barrier has reached the point providing one-way, alternating-lane controlled access weekdays for up to six weeks.

“If we make it past the rapture, everything’s a go for summer, especially with the warmer weather,” said Carol Chaplin, executive director of the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority. “We’re in prime position to satisfy the pent-up demand for outdoor sports, recreation and relaxing – it’s our No. 1 pastime.”

Memorial Day weekend is set to bring the house down with music and comedy at MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa.
