South Lake Tahoe, CA/NV….A good sized crowd was on hand to brave the elements and cheer the riders on. Originally the race was supposed to start at 10:30am and then it was moved to 1:15pm.

The riders were ready and had taken their warm ups and the national anthem had been sung when the race organizers made the decision to call the race for the day.

The 2011 Tour of California now moves on to stage two which will start tomorrow morning at 10:15am at Squaw Valley.

In addition to the pictures we posted earlier we also took some candid video from the starting area. There are clips of the peleton heading out of the start and back to their team vehicles.
