Incline Village Female Arrested for Assault with a Deadly Weapon

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a physical disturbance on Friday evening at approximately 9:40PM from an undisclosed residence located on Crest Lane in Incline Village, Nevada. The reporting party told the Dispatcher that a pistol was involved and a female was bleeding from causing injury to herself.

When Deputies arrived on scene, they made contact with the two people involved in the dispute. The female, identified as Michele Maher, was bleeding significantly from her left hand. Michele was transported to Renown Medical Center for further examination and treatment. The male did not sustain injury from the physical altercation. Sheriff’s Office Detectives were notified and responded. Both persons had reportedly been consuming alcoholic beverages prior to the physical disturbance.

Prior to Sheriff’s Deputies arriving on scene, the individuals had been involved in an argument. When the male subject attempted to leave, Michele reportedly fired her .40 caliber Smith and Wesson hand gun at him. Michele then advanced toward the subject after he attempted to hide behind a vehicle. The subject then became involved in a brief struggle with Michele over the hand gun before the gun fired, causing the injury to Michele.

Later, a nearby resident reported hearing a gun shot on the evening of the incident and that the bullet possibly struck their residence. A Deputy responded to this unidentified residence and collected a copper bullet from the dry wall of their bathroom that was consistent with ammunition within the Smith and Wesson hand gun.

Sheriff’s Office Detectives concluded the investigation and placed Michele under arrest for Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Discharging a Firearm Where a Person is Endangered, and Possession of a Firearm While Under the Influence of Alcohol. Michele was transported and booked into the Washoe County Detention Facility without incident. Michele’s bail is set at $6,890.
