Two Roof Collapses from Snow Load, Commercial Buildings

Already heavy snow loads and persistent rain and snow storms have caused two separate partial roof collapses today in Pollock Pines, Ca.
El Dorado County Fire Protection District Firefighters from Station 17, Pollock Pines responded to assist property owners late this evening when the roof of the Knotty Pine Lanes, Bowling Alley collapsed into the front of the occupied building. Several days of heavy snow fall combined with rain today added to the significant weight on the roof and supporting structure.

Three other businesses in the complex were also closed due to the collapse. There were no reported injuries.

Additionally, the Pollock Pines True Value Hardware Store also suffered a roof collapse at approximately 1030 hours this morning. The business is closed until repairs can be made. No injuries were reported at the hardware store.

Owners of Commercial Buildings and Home Owners in the snow prone areas of El Dorado County are advised to monitor the amount of snow accumulation on their buildings and take action to remove excessive build ups of snow before a collapse occurs. Citizens are urged to contact your local Fire Station if you have any questions.
