Mother Arrested for Causing Substantial Bodily Harm to Her Infant

On Friday, March 18, 2010, a Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Deputy responded to a local hospital to investigate a report of child abuse involving a four month old baby with a broken right humerus bone.

Upon arrival, the Deputy found that the mother of the four month old brought her child to the hospital with severe trauma to the right arm. Detectives responded and met with both parents. Upon further investigation, Detectives determined that the four month old had been injured by his mother, Araseli Esparza-Porras.

Araseli Esparza-Porras was arrested and booked into the Washoe County Detention Facility for Child Abuse Causing Substantial Bodily Harm with bail set at $3,500.

The infant was released into the custody of the Washoe County Child Protective Services.
