UPDATE: Sheriff’s Office releases composite of Sun Valley Sexual Assault suspect

UPDATE: The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Detectives Division is releasing a composite sketch of a suspect in a sexual assault case which occurred at approximately 1:40 pm on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at the Sun Valley Community Park.

The following is the suspect description: Hispanic male adult, approximate age is between 20-30’s, last seen wearing a black “beanie” type cap, black “hoodie” type sweatshirt, and blue jean pants.

On Wednesday, February 16th approximately 2:11 pm, the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the area of the Sun Valley Community Park to meet with an adult female victim of a sexual assault. Upon arrival, the victim told Deputies that she observed a Hispanic male sitting on a park bench near the outdoor pool as she walked past. The victim continued walking through the park towards Sidehill Drive and the baseball field when she was attacked by the Hispanic male which she previously saw on the park bench. The unknown Hispanic male forced her onto the ground near a temporary restroom and sexually assaulted her. After the assault, the Hispanic male fled on foot away from the area.

Detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect in this violent crime. If anyone was in the area of the Sun Valley Community Park between the hours of 1:30 pm and 2:00 pm and may have seen the suspect or victim, they are encouraged to call the Detectives Division at 328-3320 or Secret Witness at 322-4900.
