Sheriff’s Office Arrests 29 at Juvenile Party

Sun Valley, NV…..Washoe County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a loud party at a Sun Valley residence involving a large group of juveniles shortly after 1am on Monday. Deputies arrested and booked the homeowner, 22 year old Abril Zuno, charging her with 15 counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, furnishing alcohol to minors and two counts of child neglect. Zuno’s two small children ages 10 months and 2 years were removed for their safety by Child Protection Services.

Stemming from this complaint, twelve juveniles were arrested and taken to the Jan Evans Juvenile Detention Facility for charges of minor in consumption, child in need of supervision and curfew violations. Sixteen adults were booked into the Washoe County Detention Facility, charged with Minor in Consumption as they were under the age of 21. Several were also charged with obstructing and resisting.

Shortly after the arrests, Zuno’s brother called to report a burglary had occurred at Zuno’s residence. The reported loss was a television and computer. Zuno’s brother was able to provide deputies with suspect information. In cooperation with the Sparks Police Department, Washoe County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the Sparks address of one of the suspects. Deputies met with the resident Oscar Fonseca and his friend Jesus Paniagua. They were given consent to search the property and although they were unable to locate any of Zuno’s property, they did find a sawed-off shotgun under a bed. After interviewing Fonseca and Paniagua deputies charged Fonseca and Paniagua with burglary of Zuno’s residence. Paniagua was also charged with manufacture or possession of a short barrel gun. Both were arrested and booked into the Washoe County Detention Facility.

The Sheriff’s Office is aware of the serious effects underage drinking has on our community and takes actions to curb and reduce this unsafe and illegal activity. Sheriff’s Office actions include education, parental involvement, citations, arrests as well as random checks of businesses licensed to sell alcohol to ensure they are in compliance with alcohol related laws.
