Today: Mostly sunny, with a high near 44. South wind between 5 and 10 mph.
Tonight: Rain and snow after 10pm. Snow level 5900 feet. Low around 29. South wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
Wednesday: Rain and snow showers. High near 41. Breezy, with a south wind between 15 and 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.
Wednesday Night: Snow. Low around 26. West wind between 10 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
Thursday: Snow showers likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 36. West wind between 10 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.
Thursday Night: A 30 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 12. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

* TIMING: SNOW WILL BEGIN LATE TONIGHT NEAR THE SIERRA CREST AND
SPREAD INTO THE LAKE TAHOE BASIN EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING.
* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS: 6 TO 12 INCHES ABOVE 7000 FEET…WITH 2 TO 6
INCHES DOWN TO LAKE LEVEL.
* SNOW LEVELS: 6500 FEET LATE THIS EVENING…LOWERING TO NEAR 6000
FEET BY EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING.
* WINDS: SOUTHWEST 15 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 45 MPH. RIDGE
GUSTS UP TO 90 MPH.
* IMPACTS: SLICK ROADS AND POOR VISIBILITY DUE TO SNOW AND GUSTY
WINDS DURING THE WEDNESDAY MORNING COMMUTE IN THE LAKE TAHOE

A PACIFIC STORM SYSTEM WILL REACH THE WEST COAST AND BRING SNOW
AND RAIN TO THE SIERRA AND WESTERN NEVADA LATE TONIGHT THROUGH
THURSDAY. A PERIOD OF MODERATE TO LOCALLY HEAVY SNOW IS EXPECTED
IN THE SIERRA WEDNESDAY MORNING WITH THE HEAVIEST SNOWFALL ALONG
THE CREST WEST OF THE TAHOE BASIN…AND LIGHTER AMOUNTS SOUTHWARD
INTO MONO COUNTY. SNOW LEVELS WEDNESDAY WILL REMAIN ABOVE THE
VALLEY FLOORS WITH MOSTLY RAIN IN THE RENO AND CARSON CITY AREA.
THE SNOW WILL IMPACT TRAVEL OVER THE SIERRA PASSES WITH WET ROADS
ON THE NEVADA VALLEY FLOORS.
WINDS WILL INCREASE TONIGHT AND WEDNESDAY WITH GUSTS UP TO 45 MPH
IN THE LOWER ELEVATIONS AND RIDGE GUSTS IN THE SIERRA APPROACHING
100 MPH.
BY WEDNESDAY NIGHT AND THURSDAY…A COLD FRONT MOVING ACROSS THE
REGION WILL KEEP THE THREAT OF SNOW IN THE SIERRA. BANDS OF SNOW
ASSOCIATED WITH THIS FRONT MAY PRODUCE ADDITIONAL ACCUMULATIONS
UP TO 12 INCHES ABOVE 7000 FEET…WITH SEVERAL INCHES POSSIBLE
BETWEEN 5000 AND 7000 FEET.
SNOW LEVELS WILL DROP TO NEAR MOST VALLEY FLOORS BY LATE WEDNESDAY
NIGHT OR THURSDAY…PRODUCING A MIX OF RAIN AND SNOW SHOWERS IN
THE RENO AND CARSON CITY AREA. LITTLE OR NO SNOW ACCUMULATION IS
EXPECTED BELOW 5000 FEET.
