February 17, 2011 at 8:30 P.M. The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office has completed operations at the Folsom Lake College, El Dorado Center Campus. During the day’s incident, one suspect was taken into custody and has been identified as Jason La Rue, 22 years of age and resident of Gold River, CA.

La Rue was taken into custody after he entered the campus and was seen with a gun. The investigation revealed that the rifle was an “airsoft gun” and was not fired during the incident. Information was gathered which lead law enforcement to believe that there were several possible explosive devices planted about the campus by the suspect. With assistance from Los Rios Police, Sacramento County Sheriff and school staff, Sheriff Deputies searched the campus for these devices. Several suspicious packages were located on the campus. One package was rendered safe by the Sheriff’s bomb robot. Ultimately, it was determined that none of the suspicious packages contain any explosive material or devices.

La Rue was arrested and booked into county jail on the following charges:

* 148.1(C) PC- False bomb report, $10,000 bail.

* 626.10(A)(1) PC-Possession of a weapon on school grounds, $35,000 bail.

February 17, 2011 at 2:50 P.M. The students at Indian Creek Elementary and Office of Education students can be picked up by their parents at this time. The lock down at these campuses have been lifted. Parents need to respond to the school and pick up their children.

February 17, 2011, at 1:30 P.M. The Sheriff’s Office received a call of a subject with a gun on the campus of the Folsom Lake College, El Dorado Center on Green Valley Road. The suspect has been taken into custody by Los Rios Police officers who were on campus at the time. Information was gained that the suspect possibly placed explosive devices on the campus.

College students were evacuated and the campus locked down. All students and faculty are safe. Sheriff Deputies, Los Rios Police Officers and School Staff are checking the campus for potential explosive devices.

Indian Creek Elementary and Office of Education campuses went into lock down at the beginning of the incident.
