Kirkwood, CA…Emergency crews are working a snowmobile vs a tree off of Hwy 88 near the Blue Lakes Snow Park. CHP is reporting a traumatic head injury from a high speed impact with a tree. Update this incident has tragically been updated to a fatal accident.

Officials are, and will remain on scene for the near future gathering information on this accident and the details that led up to the fatality.

Update as of 9:27pm…The details have remained the same. Single snowmobile fatality. Alpine County Sheriff’s office has assigned a deputy for Alpine County Coroner investigation and follow up. We will pass along additional information as it comes in..
