Gardnerville….On Saturday February 5, 2011 at about 3:20 a.m. Douglas County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to 1318 Wheeler Way in the Gardnerville Ranchos on the report of a domestic battery in progress. While the Deputies were responding to the call they were advised that shots had been fired.

Responding Deputies learned that a 24 year old man had intervened in a violent domestic battery between his mother and his step father who is 41 years of age.

The step father and step son became engaged in a physical confrontation and at some point during the altercation the step son shot the step father.

The step father was seriously injured and has been transported to Renown Medical Center in critical condition.

The step son is being detained and questioned by Sheriff’s Investigators.

Further details of this incident are being withheld at this time due to the on-going investigation.
