Truckee, CA…The first day of the Junior Olympic Qualifier for Giant Slalom is in the books.  The event that was held on Friday at Northstar had some great performances from the rising skiers on the west coast.  For the ladies Tenaya Standteiner who skied to the top spot followed by Marie Johnson and Hanna Johnson.  The top two spots went to Squaw in the battle of the teams but Diamond Peak grabbed the third spot on the podium.  Diamond Peak even though it is one of the smaller teams always manages to have skiers in the hunt.

Squaw Valley’s Erik Arvidsson showed he is one of the young men to watch as the second year J-3 took the top spot on the podium. He was joined by fellow Squaw Valley Skier Addision Dvoracek and Sugar Bowl’s James Lebel skied into third.

It was a great first day and they kids are back on the snow this morning to chase those dreams of ski racing glory. You can follow the results on Live-Timing.com and we will be on the slopes again today shooting photos and video.
