Truckee, CA…Pet waste contains harmful bacteria and parasites that make people and pets sick. When it is left on the ground, it washes down storm drains and contaminates our streams and rivers. A good practice is to carry at least two or three waste bags at all times. PD Volunteer Joe was out on the Legacy Trail this weekend handing out some bags for anyone who needed some.
Scoop it, bag it, and most importantly, toss it in the trash!
Our Facilities staff regularly maintains and refills pet waste bag dispensers all around town. They also service trail trash cans and dog poop stations up to 3-times a week.
Did you know that there are more than 10 trash cans on the Legacy Trail alone. Facilities maintains over 12.5 miles of trail year round.
