LAS VEGAS, Jan. 20, 2011 — The Nevada Development Authority is at it again in an attempt to lure businesses to Southern Nevada and take advantage of the state’s prime business climate. This time, the NDA is placing a series of testimonial ads in media outlets and has also created an eye-catching message on a 380-square-foot billboard in Los Angeles. Reading, “Congratulations Governor Brown! It’s deja vu all over again.” in black and yellow, the sign and its bold message are situated above Sepulveda Boulevard near the Los Angeles International Airport.

The new billboard joins a foray of attention-grabbing advertising strategies the NDA has used over the past three years to attract new businesses to Nevada’s business-friendly environment. Like previous campaigns, including the “Kiss Your Assets Goodbye” advertising spots in 2009 and 2010, the new ad campaign alludes to the continuing budget crisis in California.

Supported by publicity and grassroots efforts, the new billboard is intended to drive Southern California business owners to the website, www.move2vegas.biz, where business owners can discover the benefits of doing business in Nevada and connect with the NDA.

“Nevada has the best business climate in the United States,” said Somer Hollingsworth, president and chief executive officer of the NDA. “California businesses continue to face increased taxes to offset massive deficit, and a change in leadership will not change that. We create these ‘in your face’ ads because we want business owners to realize there is no way California can compete with Nevada on any level when it comes to a pro-business environment.”

In the testimonial ads, local business leaders from various industries are featured with statements regarding their pro-Nevada stance.  The NDA and other business leaders are hoping the new campaign serves as a reminder to California businesses that their neighboring state can assist them with their relocations and growth.
