Diamond Peak Ski Teams Name Skiers of the Month!

Incline Village, NV….Diamond Peak Ski Team is excited to announce its Skiers of the Month, each chosen by the coaching staff for his or her dedication, sportsmanship and attitude.

The December recipients include J3s Ian Reeves and Lauren Keller, J4 Alaina Chen and J5 Michael Hartman.

J3 athletes, ages 13 and 14, were selected by their head coach, Eric Garayoa, who has worked with all levels of ski racers during his career, from development teams to Elite FIS teams.

The coach and his staff chose Reeves and Keller as skiers of the month.

“Ian exemplified the early and pre-season dedication needed to excel at the J3 level,” said Garayoa, whose J3s started training on the snow in November. “Ian is a great example of an athlete who truly loves the sport and is dedicated to development in all facets of skiing.”

As December rolled in and racing begun, Keller, a first-year J3, “exemplified dedication and a relentless work ethic,” Garayoa said. “Her ‘game day’ demeanor is impressive to say the least, putting her in a position to be successful any day, any time.”

J4 skiers, ages 11 and 12, and J5 skiers, ages 9 and 10, were selected by their coaching staff led by Head Diamond Peak Ski Team Coach Josée Lacasse. Hailing from Montreal, Canada, Lacasse is a well-respected coach who was named Far West “Coach of the Year” last year by her peers.

The J4s and J5s hit the snow in December and selected Chen, a J4, and Michael Hartman, a J5, as their skiers of the month.

“Both kids displayed a tremendous improvement and work ethic,” Lacasse said. “They have set the bar high for both their teammates and competitors this season. All of our athletes have been wonderful role models and have worked hard thus far. We are looking forward to a great season.”

Diamond Peak Ski Team started this program to recognize the tremendous amount of effort its athletes put into training and to recognize those who have excelled during the month. For more information about the resort’s programs, coaches and athletes, go to www.dpsef.org.
