Reno, NV…Washoe County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies made contact with, and identified, two non-compliant sex offenders over the weekend. Carl Geier, 50, was arrested June 4, 2021 when deputies responded to another crime in progress. Geier was not a suspect in that particular crime. When deputies were interviewing Geier – he fled from them on foot. During the interaction, Geier resisted arrest. A less-lethal taser was used in this interaction. Geier is a Tier III sex offender previously convicted for crimes against children. He faces a felony count of being a sex offender who failed to register, second offense; a felony count of being a sex offender who failed annual verification, second offense; a felony count of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine; and a misdemeanor count of obstructing and resisting an officer.
Ronald Baron, 55, was arrested June 6, 2021 when deputies responded to a reported crime in progress. Baron was one of the prime subjects in that call; however, the initial call for service was deemed to be unfounded. During the interaction with Baron, it was determined he was a sex offender who had failed to register since March of 2013. Baron is a Tier I sex offender previously convicted for indecent exposure in front of a juvenile. He faces a felony count of being a sex offender who failed to register; a felony count of being a sex offender who failed annual verification; and a felony count of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine.
The suspects above were verified by detectives in the Regional Sex Offender Notification Unit (RSONU) to be non-compliant prior to each arrest.
