Markleeville, Lake Alpine & Kennedy Meadows, CA…The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) reopened State Route 108/Sonora Pass and State Route 4/Ebbetts Pass at about 10 a.m. on Monday, May 24, 2021, after a spring storm dumped 4 to 6 inches of snow in the region. State Route 89/Monitor Pass reopened on Sunday, May 23, 2021.

Caltrans crews responsible for the road opening extend their best wishes for safe traveling to those who enjoy the recreational opportunities in the Sierra Nevada.

Even though the passes are open, motorists should be prepared for emergencies as the weather and road conditions can change rapidly.
