Placer Sheriff Devon Bell Honored Victims of Crime

Auburn, CA…On April 21st, Sheriff Devon Bell joined local dignitaries and our regional law enforcement partners to honor victims of crime for Crime Victims’ Rights Week. Sheriff Bell and the Placer County Sheriff’s Office are committed to giving victims of all crimes a voice, while working hard to hold their perpetrators accountable.

The annual event was held by Crime Victims United ; the organization was started by the Solarno family whose eldest daughter, Catina Rose Solarno, was murdered on September 3, 1979, on her first day of college in Stockton. In 1982, Catina’s mother Harriet co-chaired the Crime Victims Bill of Rights, which served as a turning point for other states to enact similar laws.

Crime Victims United has since been instrumental in bringing change to various states’ criminal justice systems by addressing the rights and needs of victims and their families.
