Truckee, CA…The Truckee Town Council is embarking upon an update to their Town Priorities for the upcoming
year. The Council and the Town’s leadership team held the annual two-day retreat on February 1st and 2nd. Of course the retreat was held virtually but we took some time to discuss Council roles and responsibilities, high performing governance, intergovernmental relations and of course Council priorities for the coming year. During this discussion, the Town Council identified the following five draft priorities: 1. Actively support the development of workforce housing. 2. Reduce greenhouse gas emissions and become a leader is environmental sustainability. 3. Enhance communication and public outreach to facilitate community cohesion. 4. Invest in key infrastructure and community connectivity, including the new library, bike trails and transit alternatives; and 5. Enhance partnerships and investment for wildfire mitigation.

Since identifying these five draft priority areas, Town staff has been working in tandem with the Town’s
budget development process to develop a two-year work plan to address these identified Council priorities. Staff will bring forward the priorities and proposed work plan to the Town Council for consideration and discussion at the March 23, 2021 Town Council meeting. Formal adoption of Council priorities and a work plan charts the course for the Town over the next several years so we hope you will tune in to the Council meeting on the 23rd to hear Council’s discussion and determination to move forward. Hope you have a wonderful week! Please feel free to reach out and share your thoughts with me by e-mail at jcallaway@townoftruckee.com or phone at 530-582-2901.
