Truckee, CA…Last night at approximately 11:22 pm, Truckee CHP units responded to a traffic collision on I-80 near Donner Pass Road. Two juveniles were involved in a major injury solo vehicle collision resulting in the vehicle becoming engulfed in flames. An off-duty Redwood City PD Officer happened upon the scene and was assisted by CHP Officer Jennings. They were able to pull the victims to safety while their vehicle burned. HERO STATUS! Both juveniles were transported to the hospital via two air ambulances and we are hopeful of their recovery. Details about the juveniles are not releasable but speed is suspected to be a factor in the collision. No drugs or alcohol are suspected.

The Labor Day weekend is upon us and we encourage everyone traveling on the highways, and especially to the mountains, to drive safely. The CHP is currently in a “Maximum Enforcement Period” until Monday night and you will see an increase in units patrolling the road.
