Robert M. Weygandt started his fifth term on the Placer County Board of Supervisors Tuesday by agreeing to serve as chairman for 2011.
Board members voted unanimously to select Supervisor Weygandt as chairman and Supervisor Jennifer Montgomery as vice chair.
The first order of business at Tuesday’s meeting was administering the oath of office to two board members who are starting four-year terms: Supervisors Weygandt and Jack Duran. County Clerk-Recorder Jim McCauley was on hand to swear in both supervisors.
Supervisor Duran, a Roseville attorney, is beginning his first term representing the 1st District on the five-member board. His district covers most of the city of Roseville and a stretch of unincorporated land that is west of Roseville and just north of the Placer-Sacramento county line.
Supervisor Weygandt has represented the 2nd District since 1995. His district covers most of western Placer County, including Lincoln, Sheridan, part of Rocklin and part of western Roseville.
Supervisor Montgomery, the new vice chair, represents the 5th district, which stretches from North Auburn to North Lake Tahoe. She has been on the board since 2009.

Weygandt’s first act as chairman was to present a plaque honoring 4th District Supervisor Kirk Uhler for serving as chairman last year.
“You did a great job,” Weygandt told Uhler. “We had a great year.”

Supervisor Uhler’s 4th District includes Granite Bay and part of Roseville.
The fifth board member is 3rd District Supervisor Jim Holmes. Auburn, Ophir, Newcastle, Penryn, Loomis and part of Rocklin are within the boundaries of his district.
The chairman presides over board meetings, approves final agendas and often represents the county at community events, but generally has the same powers as other supervisors.
