At their first regularly scheduled meeting of the new year, Washoe County Commissioners unanimously elected their chairman and vice-chairman for the 2011 year.
Commissioner John Breternitz, who represents District 1, was elected chairman. Chairman Breternitz was first elected to the Washoe County Commission in 2008 and began serving his four-year term in 2009. He is retired from the construction industry and has been involved in the community for many years.
Commissioner Bonnie Weber, who represents District 5, was elected vice chairwoman. Vice-Chair Weber is currently serving her third term having recently won re-election last November. She too has an impressive record of public service both as a volunteer and as an elected official. Ms. Weber has previously served as the County Commission’s chair and vice-chair.
Appointment of Commissioners to various boards and commissions is expected to take place later in today’s meeting, and those appointments will be posted to the County’s website as soon as they are available.
