Somerset, CA…It is with an extremely heavy heart that we announce that we lost a deputy in the line of duty this morning. El Dorado County Sheriff’s Deputy Brian Ishmael was shot and killed after responding to a call for service in the area of Sand Ridge Road in Somerset, Ca. A ride-along was with Deputy Ishmael during the call and was injured during the shooting. ** The ride-along, a deputy with another county, has received medical attention has been released from the hospital. **
We currently have two men in custody and the scene is still active. There is a large contingent of law enforcement including a helicopter in the area. We ask that you please remain out of this area. Residents, we ask that you remain vigilant and call 911 for any suspicious activity.
Deputy Brian Ishmael is a 4-year veteran with the El Dorado County Sheriff’s office and previous worked for Placerville Police Department. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.
