High Priest from Tokyo Visits Reno Buddhist Center

Reno, NV…Reno Buddhist Center is honored to receive a visit from Rev. Koken Otani, the High Priest of our lineage. His Eminence, along with a group of four senior Buddhist priests from Higashi Honganji Tokyo, will offer a traditional Buddhist service at 10:00 am at Reno Buddhist Center, 820 Plumas St. Reno. His Eminence will give a Dharma talk after sutra chanting. Seating is limited and please arrive promptly. Everyone is welcome at this special service.

“This is a tremendous honor. Otani Sensei is the 26th generation in our Buddhist lineage. That is 750 years of continuous connection to the Dharma teachers of the past” – Rev. Matthew Fisher

After a brief pause, His Eminence will preside over the Kikyoshiki ceremony. This a ceremony of Affirmation/Confirmation in Shin Buddhism. Twenty-four local members will take refuge in the Buddha, the Dharma and the Sangha. They will also receive a Buddhist Name as in the manner of our 2,600 year old tradition. These members take an important step on their spiritual path and formally take refuge in Amida Buddha. Family and friends are welcome. Photography is permitted.

His Eminence is the High priest of the largest denomination of Buddhists in Japan with more than 15 Million members. A visit to a small temple like RBC is rare. The visit of His Eminence is a once in a life time opportunity. Sunday, December 16th at 10:00am
