Carson City, NV…The Virginia & Truckee Railroad 2017 season debuts discounted family and group packages for authentic period steam train rides that transport passengers through the silver boom towns of the Wild West. The V&T pulls into the station every weekend starting Memorial Day weekend, May 27-28, through Oct. 15. The V&T provides a unique experience for special events, including weddings, fundraisers, corporate events and reunions with expanded group discounts. Private events aboard steam engine trains include 10 percent off for groups of 10-20 passengers on Friday and Sunday round-trip rides and 25 percent off for groups of 20 passengers or more. A historic Victorian parlor car for up to 30 guests is available for larger events and the entire train is also available for large events when one private car won’t suffice. The summer will include weekend rides to Virginia City, a town ripe with a colorful history of robber barons, miners, gunslingers and dance halls, and trains on select Sundays to the Carson River Canyon, a picturesque ravine with a roaring river. Themed trains include the Toast of the Canyon wine tasting train, the dinner and melodrama train, and the dinner and murder mystery train.
