Reno, NV…Who can forget legendary bombshell Lana Turner, but in case anyone needs a dose of Hollywood’s longtime “It Girl” today, they can get up close to her 1941 Chrysler Newport right here at the NAM.
Designed by Ralph Roberts and custom-built by LeBaron Carrossiers in Detroit, Michigan, this stunning piece of machinery is one of only six ever made—all as showpieces—and only four known to still exist. They featured an all-aluminum body, concealed headlamps, folding windshield and hide-away top.
In our collection, we’re proud to present a customized version owned by millionaire playboy Henry J. “Bob” Topping, also Turner’s former husband. Topping substituted a Cadillac engine and transmission for the Chrysler components, and personalized the car by having his name cast into the hubcaps and engine valve covers, and adding his initial “T” to the grill.
