Northstar, CA…On December 11, at approximately 12:00 pm, Dennis Baltimore, 35, from Incline Village, Nevada, was working in his assignment as a ski instructor for the Northstar Ski Resort. While skiing down the “Village Run,” he was forced to take evasive action to avoid someone who lost control in front of him on some ice. Dennis veered left off the run through some trees and came to rest in a ditch. Witnesses contacted Ski Patrol and first responders who administered lifesaving efforts, but sadly Dennis succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Skiing and snowboarding have considerable risks. Citizens should always be mindful of changing weather conditions and their effect on the ski runs. Rules and regulations should always be followed, along with the proper use of safety equipment. At the time of the accident, Dennis did not have a student with him and he was wearing all of his safety equipment, including a helmet.
