Kevin De León, Leader In Climate Change Policy, Keynote At Tahoe Meteorologist Conference

South Lake Tahoe, CA…California State Senate President Pro Tempore Kevin de León, a leader of the state’s efforts to build a new, low-carbon economy, will be the keynote speaker at Tahoe South’s Operation Sierra Storm Meteorologist Conference, Jan. 10-13, 2017 (http://www.osstahoe.com).

Sen. de León, D-Los Angeles 24th District, is the first Latino elected President Pro Tem of the California State Senate in more than 130 years. Keynote speaker Sen. de León will discuss California’s role as an international leader in carbon emission reductions and national implications long term economic, environmental and cultural impacts; impacts a new POTUS will have on policy, environmental initiatives and funding. He has set a bold agenda to combat climate change for all Californians and takes on challenging issues that strengthen the national reach of state’s policy-making.

Richard Somerville, professor emeritus, Scripps Institution of Oceanography, University of California, San Diego will also join the presentation to provide insights on President-elect Donald Trump’s climate change policy options and the impacts of COP 21 policy implementation.

The annual conference is made up of scientists, lawmakers and television meteorologists from major market network affiliates throughout the U.S.
