SOUTH LAKE TAHOE: The winter storm experienced over the past day dropped 12-18 inches of snow at lake level. This snowfall had high moisture content and has caused significant downed trees and power lines through the south shore area. The power outage experienced has left many Sierra Pacific Power customers without power, as of 5:00 pm, the status report from Sierra Pacific Power is one circuit has been restored which returned power to some of the City, however, the other circuits affected by the snow, which route through the Myers area, are still down. This leaves much of Myers, Christmas Valley, Portions of Tahoe Paradise, and portions of North Upper Truckee, segments of Pioneer Trail, Glenwood and Al Tahoe without Power, most likely through the evening.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN RENO HAS CANCELLED THE WINTER STORM WARNING.

SNOW SHOWERS WILL CONTINUE IN THE SIERRA THROUGH THIS EVENING. ADDITIONAL ACCUMULATIONS WILL REMAIN LIGHT WITH 1 TO 3 INCHES BELOW 7000 FEET…AND 3 TO 6 INCHES ABOVE 7000 FEET.

Warming Center
In anticipation of the low temperatures this evening, the City of South Lake Tahoe, in conjunction with the American Red Cross, will be opening a warming shelter at the South Lake Tahoe Recreation Center located at 1180 Rufus Allen Blvd, South Lake Tahoe. The warming shelter should be operational by 6:00 pm this evening.
