The Latest on Tahoe Area Power Outages from Nevada Energy’s Karl Walquist

South Lake Tahoe, CA…We would like to thank Nevada Energy’s Karl Walquist for giving us an update on the Outages. From Mr. Walquist “Most of the outages started early today when the snowstorm hit the Lake Tahoe Basin. Strong winds accompanying the snow blew trees and tree limbs into power lines causing the outages. Service was initially disrupted for roughly 10,000 customers on the south shore, but that number was reduced to 8,000 by 12:30 p.m. On the north shore , about 3,300 customers located between Kings Beach and Tahoe City were out until 10:45 a.m. Another 1,100 customers are still out on the west shore from Tahoma south to Emerald Bay. Small power outages are affecting customers all around the lake. Extra crews from Reno and Carson City are helping Sierra Pacific Power’s Lake Tahoe personnel crews with repairs.”
