On December 12th at approximately 8:46 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office responded to Pyramid Lake on a report of a missing boater. The missing boater was accompanied by two other’s while canoeing in Pyramid Lake when their boat capsized. Two persons were able to swim to safety, the third identified as Dustin Mason did not. Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue personnel were immediately called out to assist the Pyramid Lake Police Department in a search effort for Dustin Mason.

Update: On Monday, December 27th, Washoe County Search and Rescue responded back to Pyramid Lake to continue searching Pyramid Lake for the missing boater. At approximately 2:55 p.m., Rescue Divers located a body in Pyramid Lake. The body was recovered and transported to the Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Office for formal identification. On December 28, 2010 the body was identified as 20 year old Dustin Mason.
