South Lake Tahoe, CA…The Lake Tahoe South Shore Chamber of Commerce (Tahoe Chamber) will host a community forum on the US 50 South Shore Community Revitalization Project on Thursday, November 3, from 5:30 p.m.-7:00 p.m., at Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel, 4130 Lake Tahoe Boulevard in South Lake Tahoe. The program will feature a project update, information about the environmental analysis, and audience Q & A.
The “US 50 Project” has been a much-debated topic for many years. With the pending release of the draft environmental impact study for public review and comment, it’s never been more front and center than now. This project is intended to address the acute need for more affordable housing, including replacement housing for those relocated by the new segment of US 50. It is being designed to reduce traffic congestion, expand pedestrian, bicycle facilities, and enhance transit services, stimulate further community economic revitalization, and implement a new round of environmental improvements, including improvements to water and air quality and scenic community design.
Representatives of the Tahoe Transportation District, the lead agency, will provide an overview of the project alternatives studies in the analysis, project implementation principles adopted by the District Board, and outline the schedule of public hearings for public input over the next several months. They will answer written questions from the audience asked through the forum moderator. The Chamber is hosting this informational event as a service to its members and the entire South Shore community. It will also be streamed live on @tahoechamber Facebook page.
