CPR Efforts Unsuccessful On 63 Year Old Male Near Glenbrook

Minden, Nevada – On Monday September 5, 2016 Douglas County Sheriff’s Marine 7, Washoe County Sheriff’s Marine 9, and the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Marine Patrol vessel responded to a scuba diver in distress call off the shore of Glenbrook, Nevada. WCSO Marine 9 found a male, age 63, on a diving boat and being administered CPR. Marine 9 transported the victim to the Glenbrook Pier where live saving efforts were continued by Tahoe Douglas Fire Department paramedics. Those efforts were unsuccessful and the victim was pronounced dead.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office initial investigation established the victim was diving with two friends off of Glenbrook at the wreckage of the SS Tahoe in about 360’ of water. The victim and his diving companions are experienced divers and had completed a similar dive at the same wreckage the day before. Early in this the dive the victim made an emergency ascent to the surface for unknown reasons. When he reached the surface he was unconscious and not responsive.

The identity of the victim is being withheld until the next of kin is notified. The investigation
